Sun, Burn

Despite their fuzzy edges and weighty riffs, Alabama-bred, Atlanta-based quartet the Close have a knack for well-crafted melodies able to pierce through layers of drone. On “If You Run Out” off Sun, Burn (out Nov. 14), the band recruit Ivan Howard from wistful indie rock group Rosebuds to sing backup, a slot usually reserved for Theresa Fedor. “We thought Ivan would be a great fit on the song since we’ve toured with them before and he’s a fan of ours,” singer/guitarist Brooks Meeks told SPIN.com, adding the song is “definitely one of our favorite tracks on the album.”
