We Are the Elite EP

“We Are The Elite” is like a science fiction inspired version of the rock motifs explored on “Happy Album” and “The Personalization”, which is in no small part due to the heavy application of layered guitars and digital effects. »

Two new Askeleton EPs out today!

Greetings from New York’s Turgid, Icy Butthole!

We here at Goodnight Records have a Hot Toddy announcement. This means that the following information will warm your hands and your heart.

Today we are proud to herald the arrival of TWO new EPs by Askeleton, We are the Elite and The Isolationist. What makes this so special is that Askeleton’s Angry Album-or-Psychic Songs was Goodnight’s first ever release way back in 2004, and we are pleased as punch that nearly 7 years later both the band and the label are still kicking and screaming like placenta-slathered babes. After laying low for a spell, Askeleton mastermind Knol Tate tucked himself away with his closest Minneapolis collaborators to make two concise sonic statements. He delivered them to us one day completely out of the blue, so we licked the Cheetos dust off our snack-talons and started hustling to get them to your ears.

We Are the Elite is a sick-ass rock record made by sick ass musicians. So, what does it sound like, you ask? Well, Imagine you are a seafood restaurant and the waiter tells you the catch of the day is Red Snapper, and the breakfast special is a big bowl of Grits. Well, if you’re like us, you’d turn that into a Fish N’ Grits combo-plate and get something like We Are the Elite: Gritty and Catchy.  If Guided by Voices cleaned up with a shower and a shave, dropped a few pounds and maybe even eased up on the drinking they might start making music that sounds like the gnarly tunes on We are the Elite.

The Isolationist, on the other hand, bears the sound of its name. It is a Jack London story, a Robert Frost poem, and Inuit cocktail. It’s a lost dog in a snowy forest – scared and lonely, icy crystals encasing the course strands of its matted fur, crackling timbers echoing through the endless wooded matrix in no certain direction.  Listen to this arctic gem – a single cherry ember flickering defiantly against the boreal winds, and know what it’s like to live in Minnesota, that liberal hell-basket that hangs from Ontario’s chode like a frozen dingleberry.

Please take a listen to We Are the Elite from the EP of the same name, and while you are at it check out Left Handed Breathing from Isolationist EP. Both EPs are available on iTunes, Amazon, or even better (and cheaper) our online store.
